A 30-year-old South Hutchinson man convicted in a child sex case is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

Jacob Ridley entered a plea for rape and aggravated criminal sodomy, and as part of the plea agreement, the other charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated incest were dismissed.

The charges were in association with inappropriate sexual relations with a family member, the child being 14-years or younger. The alleged crime occurring on April 30 of last year.

The two charges he entered a plea to are off grid felonies under Jessica’s Law, meaning he could be looking at a life sentence if convicted of the charges, however as part of the agreement, both sides will recommend a durational departure. Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell says they will argue whether the sentences will run concurrent of consecutive. The recommendation of sentencing will be 285-months for the rape count and 165-months for the aggravated criminal sodomy count.

Maxwell says they agreed to the plea deal, so the child victim wouldn’t have to testify.

Ridley had been sent to Larned for a mental exam as part of the pre-sentence investigation and that delayed the sentencing till now. The hearing Friday is scheduled for 3 p-m, in front of Judge Trish Rose.
