A 30-year-old South Hutchinson man convicted in a child sex case was sentenced to 35-years and four months for convictions of rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.

Jacob Ridley entered a plea to the two charges, and as part of the plea agreement, the other charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated incest were dismissed by the state.

The charges were in association with inappropriate sexual relations with a 9-year-old family member. The alleged crimes reported on April 30 of last year, but may have been going on through a 6-month to 1-year period, and may have happened to the victim a dozen to 100-times, that according to information released in court Friday.

The two charges Ridley entered a plea are actually off grid felonies under Jessica’s Law, meaning he could have been looking at a life sentence on each count, however as part of the plea agreement, both sides recommended a durational departure meaning he was sentenced under level one crimes.

He received 272-months for the rape conviction and another 155-months for the aggravated criminal sodomy count, for a total of 427-months in prison.

If and when he’s released from prison, he’ll be on lifetime post release supervision.
