GREAT BEND – The sentencing for a 39-year-old Great Bend man found guilty of murder in the killing of a 14-year-old cheerleader is scheduled to be held Tuesday.

Adam Longoria was convicted of Capital Murder for the August 2010 death of Alicia DeBolt. However, the state is not seeking the death penalty, rather a life sentence with no chance of ever getting parole.

The teen disappeared the weekend before she was due to start her freshman year at high school. Text messages show she thought she was going to a party. Her remains were found three days later, burned beyond recognition at the plant where Longoria worked.

Longoria’s team tried to point the finger at others who could have been involved in the killing, but the jury believed it was Longoria who committed the crime.

Again, sentencing in the case is set for Tuesday.
