A 27-year-old Hutchinson man with an outstanding warrant in both Reno and Ford Counties was jailed Wednesday afternoon on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as felony flee and elude.

Drug Unit Detective Shawn McClay apparently activated his emergency lights, and siren and made a traffic stop at Avenue A and Reformatory. He says that he recognized the driver of the vehicle as Johnathan Nethaniel Looney and says he knew he has an outstanding warrants, one in Reno County, and one in Ford County.

As officers started to walk towards his vehicle, he apparently took off at a high rate of speed westbound on Sherman, but officers lost sight of him in the area of East 1st. But, they had an idea of where he was staying and went to that location on Meadowlark Lane. He eventually showed up and was arrested. Apparently some Kansas Highway Patrol officers also arrived at that location and they patted him down. He was allegedly in possession of a crown royal bag which contained a glass pipe with white residue, a pipe with burnt brown residue and a bag of suspected marijuana. They also found a Zig Zag package and inside this package was more suspected marijuana and a blunt.

Looney was taken to jail where he stated that he fled because of the Ford County warrant. He also allegedly admitted that the drugs were his.
