A pretrial hearing for murder suspect Billy Craig Jr., in a separate drug case was one of the shorter hearings in recent memory. It amounted to nothing more then setting a couple of dates. Reno County District Judge Trish Rose set a trial date for August 28, and motion deadline of July 31.

Craig is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school, attempted sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia to package a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and identity theft. The case occurring between June 1 and July 2, 2011.

The state alleges he was selling drugs from his home in area close to Hutchinson High School. He was also allegedly in possession of a fake drivers license, so the state charged him with identity theft.

Craig along with co-defendant Charles Christopher Logsdon are also charged with the murder of Jennifer Heckel last summer.

Craig is also alleged to have been involved in a conspiracy to commit crimes associated with a fake driver’s licenses along with Kylie Hartman and Kasey Pisoni. Pisoni entered a plea in the case, while the charges against Hartman were dropped, however the state could refile the charges.
