$12,800 In Grant Funding Awarded To Harvey County Sheriff’s Office

NEWTON – The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant through the 2013 Federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $12,800 dollars.

The grant will provide the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office three thermal imaging cameras that will be installed into Patrol vehicles. The thermal imaging cameras will provide deputies with a new technological tool to help identify suspicious activity such as metal thefts, burglaries, persons who abandon vehicles and hide from law enforcement, and children or individuals who wander away from their homes and get lost in the County.

Sheriff Walton states “Installation of thermal imaging cameras in Patrol Units will enhance patrol duties providing greater officer safety and reducing criminal activity within the County. The new equipment will be readily available to all law enforcement agencies in Harvey County upon their request”.

The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek methods and tools to provide the Citizens of Harvey County, excellence in Law Enforcement.
