Officials with the Reno County Sheriff’s Office are issuing a warning for residents of northeast Hutchinson, as well as residential areas around Prairie Dunes after a number of buglaries have been reported in that area.
At 2:33 p-m Friday afternoon, Sheriff Randy Henderson launched a Code Red alert for the Prairie Dunes area saying that during the past 36-hours, they’ve had reports of several burglaries in the Prairie Dunes area, which would include Prairie Dunes Drive, Linksland, Blue Stem, and Inverness. All of these have been into unlocked vehicles or garages, some during daylight hours.
The sheriff is advising all residents, whether in that part of town or no, to please lock doors on your cars and make sure doors on your home and garages are at least closed if not locked.
They’re also asking residents to please call 911 if you see any suspicious activity or people in the area.
The sheriff says in at least one case, a gun was stolen, while in others cash, billfolds, purses, credit cards etc., were taken.
