A 44-year-old man currently on Community Corrections for residential burglary, non-residential burglary, obstruction, and felony flee and elude faces more charges involving the use of a stolen financial card.

Narvette Brown was in court Monday for the formal reading of charges involving the use of a stolen financial card and told the judge that he has been jailed for 60-days and may finally have a bed at Mirror in Newton to deal with his drug problem, and wanted the judge to free him for treatment. But, Judge Joe McCarville told him, “no” at this point and that he should talk with his attorney, Kelly Driscoll or his corrections officer.

Part of the reason the judge didn’t want to listen is the fact that Brown called his office claiming to be an attorney. The judge told him that its illegal to pretend to be an attorney. Apparently he was connected with the judge, and stated he was Attorney Lyle Brown, but eventually admitted who he really was.

In this latest case, he’s accused of four counts of criminal use of financial card on four occasions for a total of over 21-hundred dollars. The biggest occurring on April 16, when he allegedly used the card for an amount of just over a thousand dollars.

He will be back in court on July 25, for the new charges.

Brown has served time in prison for numerous convictions in Reno, McPherson, and Sedgwick Counties.

He was placed on Community Corrections on the burglary cases back on May 12.
