On Thursday, July 12, the northbound K-61 Highway lanes will be closed between 17th and 30th from 9 a-m, until early evening. This roadway closure is required to assemble and install the pedestrian bridge that is being placed over K-61 Highway just south of 30th.
The southbound lanes of K-61 will also have intermittent closures, but for short term time periods only.
During the time when K-61 lanes are closed, traffic will be detoured using 17th Street, Lorraine Street, and 30th Street.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ’Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. Persons with questions about this road work can contact the KDOT South Central Kansas Public Affairs Manager, Martin Miller at 620-663-3361 or 1-877-550-5368 (Toll Free).
