Reno County Sheriff officials have arrested Rusty Owen Bryant of Hutchinson for the burglaries that occurred in the Prairie Dunes- Linksland Drive area in suburban Hutchinson recently.

The charges included 1-count of aggravated burglary, 9-counts of residential burglary, 3-counts of felony theft, 7-counts of misdemeanor theft and 7-counts of possession of stolen property. The bond for these charges is set at 15-thousand dollars.

Reno County Sheriff’s detectives are still following up on these cases in an attempt to determine if there are others involved.

All the victims from the cases have been contacted and identification of property has been made. There is a possibility that additional charges could be filed against Bryant.

It was Monday, when acting on a tip from the South Hutchinson Police Department, investigators with the Reno County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Kansas State Parole conducted what is called knock and talk at 1001 E 12th in Hutchinson.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at approximately 6:30 p-m at that residence. Items consistent with property reported from recent burglaries were seized.

Bryant has been on parole for convictions of drug related charges, driving while suspended and burglary all in Reno County. But, other convictions include trafficking in contraband, and two convictions for criminal damage to property in Greenwood County, as well as aggravated intimidation of a witness and criminal threat convictions in Reno County.

The arrest means he should make an appearance in court on the charges within the next week.
