A 22-year-old Hutchinson man was granted 36-months community corrections by District Judge Joe McCarville for three cases from last year, but the corrections won’t begin until he’s released from prison. Cody Reno was ordered to prison for 91-months in two 2010 cases for violating his community corrections.

Reno entered pleas as charged back in June for the three 2011 cases. Charges included conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of ephedrine with attempt to manufacture meth, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony interference with a law enforcement officer, driving an unregistered vehicle, this after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He was sentenced to a total of 288-months for the three cases, then granted a zero tolerance community corrections assignment, meaning any violation could have him serve that time in prison.

In the first case, an officer made the traffic stop in the 400 block of North Washington after Reno ran a stop light at 5th & Adams. As the officer went back to his patrol vehicle, Reno allegedly ran off, and during a search of the vehicle, the items consistent with a meth lab were found. That was back on October 10, 2011. He had been arrested the previous Saturday at an apartment of 935 East Sherman for being possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. And the third case involves failing to report for being a drug felon.

Reno was at one point listed as an absconder from the 2010 cases where he was convicted and sentenced in each case for being in possession of meth with intent to sell. He was ordered by Judge Joe McCarville to serve the 91-months, after he made the plea in the most recent cases.

He was also ordered to pay hundreds of dollars in various fees and court cost.
