The last bit of what was once Promise Regional medical Center came down today as work crews removed the purple and yellow sign at 17th and Waldron and replaced it with Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. The sign was the last of the changes made to the hospitals signs after the Hospital changed its name earlier this year. The Board of Directors at Promise Regional Medical Center voted unanimously to return Hutchinson to the name of the hospital and its partners.

Additionally, references to the hospital and its affiliates have become the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. The hospital’s affiliate partners, include Health E‐quip, Ray E. Dillon Living Center, Horizons Mental Health Care Center and Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County. Since the changes all now will carry the tag line “A member of the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare Family.”

Operational funds were not spent to cover any of the costs associated with the name change. Private donations to the hospital foundation were used to cover expenses incurred. The Promise name was the work of former President Linda Harrison who drew fire for spending hospital funds to change the name of the hospital to one most area residents didn’t like. Once Harrison left, after two years, the push was on to change the name back to include Hutchinson in some form.
