The man suspected of a number of burglaries in the Prairie Dunes area of Hutchinson was in court Wednesday morning for the formal reading of charges against him.

Rusty Bryant is charged with four counts of aggravated burglary for break in’s at homes where someone was home, five counts of burglary of a dwelling or home, and four counts of auto burglary. All of this occurring in the Prairie Dunes- Linksland Drive area in suburban Hutchinson. Most of the crimes occurring on July 5, and 6, however, according to the criminal complaint, one did occur on July 11.

Reno County Sheriff’s detectives acted on a tip from the South Hutchinson Police Department, and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and agents with Kansas State Parole went to residence at 1001 E 12th. A search warrant was obtained and executed and allegedly items consistent with property reported stolen from recent burglaries were seized.

Bryant has been on parole for convictions of drug related charges, driving while suspended and burglary, aggravated intimidation of a witness and criminal threat convictions in Reno County. But, also has other convictions which include trafficking in contraband, and two convictions for criminal damage to property in Greenwood County.

Because he has been formally charged, this case will now move to a waiver-status docket next month.
