SOUTH HUTCHINSON – We’re just finding out about some storm damage in South Hutchinson early Sunday morning as strong storms moved in from the northwest.

Police Chief Scott Jones says that the main area of damage was basically isolated to the center of town. From Blanchard Ave South to Avenue E and Washington East to Maple avenue.

The Trails West Motel in the 200 Block of South Main saw it’s roof blown off the north end of the motel. Motel had to relocate occupants of 4-rooms.

Large garage located 200 Block of South Main east of the Trails West saw a garage door blown in.

In the unit block of East A, in the south alley, a large storage building had major damage to the building with half of the roof missing.

In the unit block of East B, a large enclosed car trailer overturned and the garage was completely destroyed all the way down to the foundation.

Other damage included a couple of sheds blown down at Avenue A and Poplar, and in the 200 block East 1st.

In the 200 block of East Blanchard, there was a large tree limb down over 2 vehicles damaging both vehicles.

In the 400 block of South Adams, a sun room off the back of a home completely distroyed,
Alex’s shop 100 Block of South Main saw a garage door and window damage.

South Hutchinson Police Dept. and City hall each had minor damage.

In the 100 West 6 th street, there was a tree down over some trailer homes.

Plus says the chief, they had numerous reports of minor damage to several homes in this area and also numerous reports of power lines down.

Estimated winds at the time were nearly 80-miles-per-hour according to the chief.

The west side of Hutchinson also sustained tree and powerline damage from the storm.
