Wichita Man Goes from Working at the State Fair to Winning at the State Fair

TOPEKA – For many years, Ron Fuller has attended the Kansas State Fair as an employee in a food vendor booth. This year, he decided to take a year off from working and see the fair from the perspective of a fair-goer enjoying the weekend with his wife, Sharon. And they are both glad he did!

As the couple was leaving the fair Saturday evening, they decided to make a stop in the Kansas Lottery Building to rest and try their luck before making the final trek to the parking lot. The last purchase of the night, $10 worth of $1 instant tickets, was the winner.

Fuller won $5,000 on a $1 Coin Toss instant ticket. He thinks that was a pretty good return on his $10 purchase.

“My wife gave me the tickets to look at and I missed the winner,” Fuller said. “When I laid them down, upside down on the table, I noticed something I didn’t see before so I looked more closely. I realized one ticket was a $5,000 winner and ran up to the Lottery counter.”

The next thing he noticed was his wife high-fiving the Lottery worker who sold them the tickets. She adds, “I’ve never seen him get off a chair so fast in all my life!”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Kansas Lottery Building at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.
