It turned out to look worse then it was when a vehicle involved in an accident burned up.

It was around 2:14 p-m, Monday afternoon when Reno County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Partridge and Lake Cable Roads for a one vehicle accident. It was reported at the time the grass around the vehicle was on fire.

The driver had been removed from the vehicle by a passerby. The driver identified 64-year-old Thania Raye Collins had a small scratch on her forehead between her eyes and bump and scratch on her left forearm. She was treated by EMS at the scene but refused transport to the ER.

She was driving South on Partridge Road, apparently leaving the roadway and entered the west ditch with her two right side tires. As she maneuvered back onto the road she over corrected and crossed into the east ditch, traveling through the ditch and struck a utility pole. She was wearing her seat-belt at the time of the accident.

The truck, a 1995 Toyota Pickup overheated and started the grass on fire. The fire from the grass eventually caught the vehicle on fire as well and was completely destroyed.

The victim also complained of back pain and was transported by private vehicle to the Kingman County Hospital E-R by her husband.
