The Reno County Commission will be holding a public meeting over the budget next year, this coming Monday at the Hutchinson Public Library meeting room. The meeting will begin at 7 p-m.

Those wanting questions answered on what the county budget looks like for next year, or why the county is spending money a certain way will be able to weigh in on that.

The county doesn’t plan any increase or decrease at this point, meaning it will not change from last year, staying at 38.594-mills. The county will decide on publishing next years budget next week, so Monday may be the last time to voice any concerns you may have.

Also brought up by the commission is the cost the county will have to pay as there share of the budget for the Hutchinson Fire Department. The county pays 18 and half percent of the city fire department budget after the city fire department merged with County Fire District 2.

County Commissioner Dan Deming says it will cost the county 100-hundred thousand dollars over last year, with the number at 1-million 560-thousand dollars.

That cost will also mean more for those who live in suburban Hutchinson and are served by the Hutchinson Fire Department. The mill levy for those who pay a fire district levy will see it increase from 19.38 mills this year, to 20.93 mills next year according to Deming.

Again, a meeting on next years budget will be on Monday at the Hutchinson Public Library.
