A 19-year-old Hutchinson man jailed after he was seen using a debit card that allegedly belonged to a family member was in court for the formal reading of charges.

Tylor Schmidt of 1509 Linda Lane is charged with criminal use of a financial card, and theft after he allegedly took the card and used it a number of stores including Wal-Mart, Dillon’s and Hippen Sports over a three day period starting on July 10, and ending on July 12. The total comes over 41-hundred dollars. Apparently, he was picked up on video according to Hutchinson Police Detective Dean Harcrow.

He already faces charges of aggravated assault, defacing the identification marks on a firearm and two counts of misdemeanor theft after an incident at a local home back on January 18.

The case started around 4:30 p-m, when officers were dispatched to 522 East 6th, in reference to a possible hostage situation. Officers quickly diffused the situation and found that no one was being held hostage.

The investigation later revealed that Schmidt who has an apartment at that location threatened an acquaintance with a handgun. The handgun was recovered and police discovered that the serial number was defaced.

His cases will all come before the court again on August 16, when a preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
