As expected, the Reno County Commission approved spending 14-thousand, 300-dollars rto conduct a phone survey regarding the county jail proposal. That will give them a sense of feelings of county residents over the issue.
The county will hire a firm out of the Kansas City area to do a phone survey of 400-members of the voting public. Patron Insight will conduct the survey.
The county wants to build a jail at a cost of 20-25 million dollars and they want voters to approve a half-cent sales tax to build the new jail on property being purchased from the Kansas Department of Corrections at the corner of Severance and Blanchard near Carey Park.
The issue will go before voters next spring.
