We’ll have to wait one more week to find out if a 23-year-old Hutchinson man who entered a plea to a single count of abuse of child is sentenced to prison or granted some form of probation.

Lloyd Parker Jr., of 203 East A, Apt. B was arrested for allegedly using a belt on a 3-year-old girl back January 15, 2009.

His attorney Sam Kepfield started to argue for probation in the case citing his lack of criminal history, but apparently failed to file any formal motions over any departure. The case is a presumptive prison, but does fall in a border box, meaning the judge had the option of granting a departure and some form or probation. Judge Joe McCarville granted the request for a one week continuance so that Kepfield can file the motions.

The case center on Parker using the belt on the child while the mother was at work. The belt apparently caused severe bruising on various parts of the child’s body including her face.

You may recall that Parker had reported that a black male had discharge a firearm at him while he was leaving his residence on Avenue A. That was back on March 23. No arrest have ever been made from that incident.
