A 25-year-old Hutchinson man expected to go to trial Tuesday in a child sex case entered a plea instead.
Michael Sherman had been arrested back in early December after he reported to police that he sexually abused a 3-month-old child.
Sherman was before Judge Tim Chambers where he entered the guilty plea to aggravated criminal sodomy, and will now most likely face life in prison with no chance of parole for 25-years.
He admitted that he was alone with the child and was watching pornography on his cell phone, then sodomized the child. He reportedly visited two porn websites using a smart phone. Hutchinson Police Detective Scott Carlton said when he was interviewed at the Law Enforcement Center, he was very remorseful for what he had done, and it apparently started in the kitchen of their home.
District Attorney Keith Schroeder says there was no plea deal in the case, but the defense can argue for a departure from the Jessica’s Law sentence when he’s sentenced on October 12.
