TOPEKA (AP) – Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor says his office found no evidence of substantive violations of the Kansas Open Meetings Act from private meetings Gov. Sam Brownback had with legislators.

Taylor’s office has spent nearly seven months investigating seven dinner meetings Brownback had for members of 13 legislative committees in January at Cedar Crest, the governor’s official residence, with more than 90 lawmakers invited.

The 10-page report from Taylor’s office says the dozens of lawmakers it interviewed had only “a limited understanding” of the open meetings law, and technical violations may have occurred during the gatherings with Brownback.
