A 3-year-old child was taken to a Wichita Hospital after being struck by a van in the 100 block of West 10th, just before 12-Noon Sunday.

The child identified as Peyton Lee Stowell had climbed off a parked ford ranger pickup that was parked on the south side West 10th. The child was struck by the right front fender of the van.

The child was first taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, then taken to Wesley Hospital in Wichita via Lifeteam for possible head injuries. The child is now listed in fair condition.

The accident occurred as 31-year-old Katherine L. Lewis of Hutchinson was eastbound on West 10th.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Hutchinson PD Traffic Bureau.
