The Hutchinson Schools Board Monday night approved presenting to the city a request for a conditional use permit to improve district facilities near 23rd and Severance, including permanent storage and restrooms on the site.

The district has soccer and baseball facilities at 23rd and Severance. Restrictions on use of the facilities have required the district to have portable restrooms and few creature comforts – including changing areas for players. Currently, there are some storage sheds on site and a pole barn.

The district will be requesting conditional use permit with the cities Planning Commission to build a permanent 10,400 square foot facility that would include locker facilities, ADA public restrooms, a ticket booth, equipment storage, and a concessions area. Additionally, the existing stands would be mounted on concrete pads.

The proposal would not provide any field lighting.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the board monitored math results for district students and received an update on Adequate Yearly Progress.

With the change to Common Core State Standards from AYP standards, the reports also are in the process of seeing major changes.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the board approved the continuation of the interagency agreement with the Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson and the Reno County Educational Cooperative for the birth through age 5 services for disabled pre-school children in Reno County.

They also approved the continuation of the interagency agreement between RCEC and the McPherson Special Educational Cooperative to participate in the day school program located in USD 308 facilities.
