Elderly Hutch Man Flown To Wichita After He Became Ill And Struck A Home

A 71-year-old Hutchinson man was flown to a Wichita hospital early Saturday after he apparently crashed his vehicle and struck the back side of a home.

According to Reno County Sheriff Captain Wayne Baughman, it happened around 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Emergency crews were sent to 14308 E. 82nd, for the report of a vehicle that struck a house. What they found they found a 1995 Toyota Four Runner, driven by Henry Zelenka had been eastbound on 82nd, when he became ill and attempted to pull over.

According to a witness, his vehicle went off the roadway on the north side went through the ditch, and then struck the backside of the home belonging to Phillip Reimer.

Zelenka was wearing a seat-belt, and was airlifted from the scene by EagleMed helicopter to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

There were no injuries to the occupants of the home which sustained extensive damage.
