The Reno County Commission on a 2-1 vote decided Tuesday to continue to have the county contribute as much as 250-dollars for employees health savings accounts who are on a high deductible plan.

Commissioner Dan Deming voted against it saying he wants to see the county phase out the practice which he says will cost the county 300-hundred thousand dollars next year. He made a motion to cut 125-dollars from the amount each employee would get, but he failed to get a second. Commissioners Brad Dillon and James Schlickau decided to keep things as they are when Dillon made the motion, and Schlickau seconded. That means the county would contribute 125-dollars to the savings accounts, and if the employee puts in 125-dollars of their own money, then the county would match that, meaning the employee could get as much as 250-dollars into their health savings account each year.

Tuesday’s vote completes the discussion of the commission over insurance for the year.
