A 23-year-old Hutchinson man arrested for arson after he reported a robbery entered a plea Thursday morning to the charge in front of Judge Joe McCarville.

Jason Volker of 501 North Main reported that two white males had entered his apartment with a weapon and stole his cell phone back on June 7.

But, earlier that morning, around 2:30 a-m, Reno County Fire, Sheriff and Drug Unit detectives were involved in an investigation where they believe a fire was intentionally set on the porch of a home at 8806 South K-17 Highway as well as a car that was fully destroyed and they then discovered of the remnants of meth lab.

Detective Darrian Campbell also indicates they found some bricks with blood on it that appeared to have been used to break windows in the home.

Volker had cuts on his arms when sheriff detectives talked with him at his apartment in the Landmark building. He was arrested on two counts of arson and criminal damage to property, however entered a plea to one count of arson.

Also entering a plea was 25-year-old Brandy Davis. She had been charged with a single count of arson for the same case, but entered a plea to aiding and abetting arson. She was apparently seen buying gas believed used to burn the 1995 Pontiac Firebird.

Sentencing for both will come next month.
