2010 crime rate figures for Reno County were released Tuesday by the FBI as part of its “Crimes in the US” report. And the report showed mixed results in Reno County. While violent crime was down in the county in 2010 from the previous year, overall crime increased from 4.9% to 5.8%., base on every 1,000 residents in the county.
There were 3,616 total crimes in Reno County in 2010, compared to just 3,099 in 2009. Violent crime did see a decrease. In 2010, there were 291 violent crimes in the county compared to 335 in 2009. That included two homicides in 2010 compare to none in 2009, and 24 rapes in 2010 to 33 the previous year. Property crimes saw the biggest increase with 3,325 in 2010 compared to 2,764 in 2009, a jump of 7%.
