The sentencing for a 25-year-old Hutchinson man charged in a child sex case and who entered a plea will have to wait one more week.
Michael Sherman had been charged back in early December after he reported to police that he sexually abused a 3-month-old child. He was scheduled to be sentenced Friday morning, but apparently the pre-sentence investigation is not complete. Judge Tim Chambers agreed to continue the sentencing one week, so is now scheduled for next Friday at 10:30 a-m.
Sherman entered a guilty plea before Judge Tim Chambers to aggravated criminal sodomy, and when he is sentenced will now most likely face life in prison with no chance of parole for 25-years.
He admitted that he was alone with the child and was watching pornography on his cell phone, then sodomized the child. He reportedly visited two porn websites using a smart phone.
There was no plea deal in the case, but the defense can argue for a departure from the Jessica’s Law sentence when he’s sentenced next week.
