Sedgwick County offering traffic warrant amnesty.

WICHITA – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the District Court and District Attorney’s Office will conduct an amnesty program for traffic warrants.

The program will be held on September 29 & 30, from 7 a-m to 7 p-m and October 1 from 8 a-m to 12 noon, on the fifth floor of the Sedgwick County Courthouse.

The amnesty program is a waiver from the court, The courts will waive warrant fees, court costs, and the possibility of arrest if citizens voluntarily come in and pay their traffic fine. If you have warrants for failing to appear in court or a probation violation, a judge will will be available to discuss their case.

If you are unable to pay fines in full, you need to make a initial payment and agree to participate in a payment plan.Fines must be paid in person.

If a person has been charged with no proof of insurance, they need to bring proof of insurance documenting that the vehicle was covered at the time of the violation. This is for the Sedgwick County, 18th Judicial District warrants only.

Representatives from each agency may be available for comments and questions on Friday September 23, at 1 p-m on the 11th floor of the courthouse.
