LINDSBORG – One person was killed and three others were injured in a wreck between a pickup and a car Sunday afternoon just before 2:30 p-m along the McPherson/Saline County Line.
According to Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, a car driven by 58-year-old Barry Smock of rural Lindsborg was southbound on Muir Road, when his car collided at the intersection of Muir and Coronado Heights Road with a pickup driven by 57-year-old Jack Spooner of rural Falun. Spooner was westbound on Coronado Heights Road.
The impact pushed both the pickup and car into a power pole in the southeast ditch of the intersection.
Smock was pronounced dead at the scene, Spooner was taken by “Life Team” to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of injuries.
Passengers in Spooner’s pickup were 57-year-old Virginia Spooner who was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries.
5-year-old Elijah Spooner of Lindsborg suffered scratches to his face and did not require any hospital treatment.
Sheriff Kochanowski says the intersection is an open intersection with no stop signs.
