UPDATE: Alleged Hutchinson Drug Dealer Will Go To Trial

A 20-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back on April 23 after a search warrant was served on his residence at 720 East 14th Terrance was in court briefly Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing in his case.

Quinten Darby is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell within a 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package of a controlled substance and no drug tax stamp.

The hearing consisted of both sides saying the case will need to go before a jury, apparently no plea deal reached.

The case centers on a search of Darby’s home, where drug unit officers allegedly found a backpack containing approximately 40-grams of high grade marijuana and digital scales. Then in his room, they allegedly found a brown bag with an additional 25-grams of marijuana. Next to his bed was a sandwich box with baggies which they allege was used to package the marijuana for sale.

He was arrested and during a search of his person, they allegedly located inside his pants pocket, some prepackaged marijuana and a large sum of cash with a rubber band around it.

His residence is located directly across the street from Graber Elementary School.

No trial date was announced Friday.
