A 73-year-old Hutchinson man was taken to a Wichita hospital after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 3:50 p-m, officers with the Hutchinson Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Ave A and N. Poplar for the accident.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicated Neil J. Kralicek was in the crosswalk of East A walking northbound when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound in the inside lane of East Avenue A. Kralicek was flown from the scene by a Lifeteam helicopter to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. He remains in critical condition Monday, according to hospital officials.

The vehicle was driven by 43-year-old Valerie S. Avery of Hutchinson. She wasn’t injured.

Police say alcohol isn’t a factor in this accident and this is an ongoing investigation
