Hutchinson School Board Reviews Key Indicators

The Hutchinson School Board Monday took an in-depth look at assessments that will guide the district’s educational planning.

Known as key indicators, the assessments provide guidance to the district for reading, writing, mathematics, digital citizenship and career readiness. Each month, district staff use the indicators in its results reports to the Board.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the board took “next steps” on two initiatives. Members passed a resolution that allows the City of Hutchinson to take over as sponsor of the Hutchinson Recreation Commission. The move broadens the tax base for the commission to the entire city of Hutchinson from the current school district boundaries.

They also approved a resolution moving forward on the refinancing of a portion of the 2006 bond issue. Over the life of the bonds, district taxpayers will save an estimated $429,000.
