A uninvited guest got into one of the Westar Energy sub stations Friday morning putting more than 1600 customers in the dark. According to Westar officials a squirrel got caught up in the power system around 9am at the 14th and Loraine substation. Power was out from near Plum east to Waldron and from 5th Avenue north to 23rd. The power outage also tied up traffic along 11th and 17th Avenues at Severance, Lorraine and K-61 Highway. Power was restored in a little more than an hour.
