A 58-year-old Hutchinson man managed to get his bond lowered from 7-thousand dollars to 3-thousand after he made a first appearance on charges associated with an incident which occurred back in September.

Britt Mauk is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, interference with a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor theft. He’s alleged to have stolen food from Dillon’s and threatened an officer with a deadly weapon, in this case a knife, that according to information mentioned in court. This occurring back on September 28.

In court, he asked for a reduction of his bond saying he has no money to get out of jail. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson asked that the bond remain a surety bond, meaning he would need to go through a bonding agent to get released. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen agreed to lower it to 3-thousand dollars, but did make it a surety bond.

His case will now be placed on a future waiver-status docket.
