A 45-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in August for allegedly downloading child porn waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week and will now be arraigned on the charges next month.
Wayne Hegner is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and could now face a trial.
According to Police Detective Scott Carlton, he had been downloading the pictures for over a year using a website, Peer-to-Peer file sharing. It’s a website where people exchange and send each other this kind of material.
Carlton says he had been investigating the case for a couple of months prior to his arrest and a look at his computer showed a few hundred files of child porn.
Again, arraignment in the case will come next month in front of Judge Trish Rose.
