A large group of people arrived at the Eagle Media Center Wednesday morning, before the sun was up to help support 26-local non-profits and a match by the Hutchinson Community Foundation. 

The Hutchinson Community Foundation “Match Day” is considered a complete success, and even more. Not only did they use the 40-thousand in matching dollars, but collected a total of 182-thousand dollars between the efforts at our studios and in Buhler. Add the 40-thousand, and that brings the total to 222-thousand dollars for the community.

They were offering the 40-thousand in matching funds for donations made to 26 different nonprofit endowment funds in Reno County.

Matching funds were given on a first-come, first-serve basis, and those nonprofits were competing for the 40-thousand dollar total pot ($10,000 max per organization).

How much each organization will receive isn’t known yet with the officials saying they’ll tally that up on Thursday.

The 12-hour event ran from 7 a-m to 7 p-m Wednesday, with people lining up before 7 a-m at the Eagle Media Center in Hutchinson before the event even started. 

Aubrey Patterson telling us she couldn’t be more pleased with the results and shows the generosity of the community. The Buhler Community Fund also ran a satellite operation in that city on Wednesday. They raised 26-thousand dollars in Buhler. Patterson says that is added in the total.

Officials were also “on air” on all three Eagle Radio Stations promoting the event, and brought even more attention to the efforts of the Hutchinson Community Foundation, but also many of the organizations that will benefit from this effort.
