What was supposed to be a bond forfeiture hearing here in Reno County didn’t happen Thursday because the defendant is still being held in Saline County on much more serious matters.

30-year-old Jason M. Gleason still has charges pending in Reno County which include traffic in contraband in a correctional institution, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, no proof of insurance and speeding.

He was arrested on the charges back on October 5, 2012 and the case is still active. But, he still faces robbery charges in Rice County, and firing at a trooper who pursued him as he fled with a woman and three children in a sport utility vehicle.

Gleason is charged with attempted first-degree murder for shooting at the trooper after crashing his SUV near Gypsum also back in October. The officer returned fire, and two people in the SUV were injured.

Other charges against Gleason include four counts of attempted second-degree murder.

No doubt the Reno County case will be on the back burner for the time being, while he faces those other matters.

The bond in the Reno County case is only 15-hundred according to Assistant District Attorney Daniel Gilligan.
