Accident In Southeast Sedgwick County Kills One Teen, Injures Three Others

DERBY – A Derby teenager was killed and three others injured after an accident in southeast Sedgwick County on Saturday.

It occurred just after midnight at 87th Street South and Webb Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the westbound 2005 Dodge Durango lost control of the vehicle, which then left the roadway and rolled.

Killed in the accident was 14-year-old Braxton W. Kooser. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 14-year-old Caleb B. Shelton and passengers, 15-year-old Kaleb A. Kelly and 15-year-old Alex M. Helt were all transported to Wesley Medical Center. Shelton and Kelly were both listed as having serious injuries, while Helt had minor injuries

The investigation of the accident continues.
