Joshua Hickey, the 17-year-old who was convicted of being involved with a number of church burglaries in the Hutchinson area and recently granted another chance on community corrections is in trouble again for basically the same crimes

Hickey was arrested for the burglaries that occurred at Dillon’s 1319 North Main, Trinity United Methodist church, 1602 N. Main and the First Church of Christ Scientist located at 1400 N. Main.

He’s jailed, charged with 3 counts of burglary, 1 count of arson, 2 counts of criminal damage, 1 count of felony criminal damage, 3 counts of misdemeanor theft, 3 counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct or deprivation, 1 count of unlawful possession of a prescription, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Hutchinson Police Department responded to multiple burglary reports on January 27, and January 28, with the majority of the reported burglaries involved businesses and churches, leading to Hickey’s arrest.

He apparently was out of the county jail only 7-hours before he allegedly committed another burglary. He remains in the Reno County Jail with a $75,000.00 bond.

Judge Chambers had ordered Hickey to serve 30-days in the Reno County Jail back in December as a sanction for violating his community corrections in the earlier cases. Hickey had been sentenced back in November to 32-months in prison, but then granted 24-months community corrections.

According to the state, he violated his corrections for smoking marijuana and also failing to report to his corrections officer at least once.

But now, he could now go to prison for the earlier cases because of the latest case.
