The second of four meetings for the Community Budget Committee is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p-m, on Monday, in the Professional Learning Center at Hutchinson High School. The Professional Learning Center is located in the old HHS auditorium, 1401 North Severance.
The community is invited to attend the meeting and listen to the information.
During the first meeting on Feb. 4, the committee learned about the budget process for Kansas schools. Future meetings will include information on what areas have faced cuts in years past and will revisit program cuts that were discussed but not made in the past few years.
Time will also be spent discussing how budget decisions support or hinder attainment of the district’s strategic plan goals. The committee will make budget recommendations to the Board of Education later this spring. The Board has the ultimate authority to set the district budget.
Other meetings of the group will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 4 and April 15, also in the Professional Learning Center.
Additionally, the district will take electronic feedback from the public. A budget comment line has been set up on (620) 615-4014. Patrons may leave comments on the line but are asked to leave a name and telephone number so that district staff may be able to call back and get additional feedback.
Feedback also may be provided by emailing the district at comment@ www.usd308.com.
