WICHITA – The 27-year-old Lyons man suspected of robbing the bank in Arlington has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Wichita.

Jacob W. Schrock, is charged with one count of armed bank robbery, one count of unlawful possession of sawed off shotgun in furtherance of bank robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a sawed off shotgun. The indictment alleges that on Sept. 13, he robbed the Citizens Bank of Arlington.

It was around 10:46 a-m, when Reno County Sheriff Deputies were sent to bank after it was reported that a white male had entered the bank with a shotgun and demanded cash from the teller. After being given the money, the man demanded the car keys from the teller and left the bank northbound on K-61 in the tellers Mercury Marquis.

Approximately 8-minutes after the initial dispatch, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Grant Blaylock was checking the area of U-S 50 and Salem Road for the suspect vehicle. He noticed a white male matching the robbery suspects description, pass him in a pickup. The man looked away when the trooper passed, raising the officers suspicion.

Blaylock also noticed that the pickup had no tag, so he stopped the vehicle approximately 1/2 mile west of Salem Road on U-S 50. While the trooper was talking to the driver, he noticed a shotgun in the seat. He then removed Schrock from the vehicle and saw a stack of money laying in the seat. Schrock was then arrested and taken to the Reno County Jail with bond set at 101-thousand, 500-dollars.

Schrock initially was charged in a criminal complaint filed Sept. 14 in U.S. District Court in Wichita.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the armed bank robbery charge, not less than 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of bank robbery, and a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of unlawful possession of a sawed off shot gun.
