Five people were taken to the Newton Medical Center after an accident involving Sheriff vehicles in Harvey County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Amy Christine Younts of Newton passed one sheriff deputy who was stationary doing traffic control. She then moved to the left lane to pass another vehicle and rear ended another sheriff deputy who was also stationary doing traffic control.
Younts along with her passenger’s, 26-year-old Nickole Chantel Croomes of Salina, 10-year-old Malachi Holmes, 9-year-old Zion Younts and 14-year-old Ethan Holmes were all taken to the medical facility for treatment of possible injuries.
The deputy, 36-year-old Shawn Allen Chapman of Sedgwick may have also been injured, however there is no indication that he was transported to the hospital.
The accident occurring about 2:50 p-m, Monday afternoon, along I-135 over K-15 in North Newton.
