Judge Sets Trial Date For A Hutchinson In Child Porn Case

Wayne Hegner

A 45-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in August of last year for allegedly downloading child porn will face trial in May.

Wayne Hegner waived his right to a preliminary hearing back in November on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and could now face a trial.

Judge Trish Rose set a hearing date of May 7, with a motion deadline for attorney’s of April 12.

According to Police Detective Scott Carlton, he had been downloading the pictures for over a year using a website, Peer-to-Peer file sharing. It’s a website where people exchange and send each other this kind of material.

Carlton says he had been investigating the case for a couple of months prior to the arrest and a look at his computer showed a few hundred files of child porn.
