Monday night at around 9 p-m, Reno County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to 10021 Paganica Ct. for the report of a man which was found in that home without permission.
When deputies arrived and made contact with the home owner, they told the officers that 38-year-old Brandon Sutton had been in his residence and he told him to leave, which he did.
The home owner then called 911 to report the incident.
Reno County deputies as well as Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers all responded to the area, because they all knew that there were warrants for Sutton. A KHP plane was also called into the area to assist with the search. He was not located during that search.
Tuesday, deputies and KHP Troopers returned to the Highlands area to see if they could locate Sutton. They did find a camp site that they believe Sutton had been using, but he was not there.
At about 10:30 Tuesday, 911 dispatchers received a call that said Sutton had been dropped off at 82nd and Plum area and was walking to the city of Nickerson.
Reno County deputies, and KHP troopers went to that area and began looking for Sutton.
At about 11:30 Tuesday, Sutton was seen running in the 700 block of west Nickerson Blvd. in Nickerson, and deputies were able to take him into custody without further incident.
Sutton is now in the Reno County Jail on two warrants totaling 18,500.00 in bonds.
That includes traffic charges including driving while suspended, speeding, then other felony charges including possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement.
You may recall that back in January when Reno County Sheriff Deputies arrested Sutton for a series of burglaries in the Nickerson area.
In that case, Sutton faces 4-counts of burglary, 5-counts of felony theft and 3-counts of criminal damage to property.
The sheriff detectives also assisted the Rice County Sheriff’s Office with recovering stolen property and their investigation of a burglary that had occurred in their county. A total of approximately $26,500 worth of property has been recovered and returned to the owners as a result of the arrest.
