Once again, under very tight security at the Reno County Courthouse, a 20-year-old Hutchinson man facing charges of intentional second degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm was arraigned on the charges Friday morning where he entered “not guilty” pleas.

Isaac Devante Beltran was arrested as a result of the shooting death of 26-year-old Dustin Brooks in the alley behind the home where Beltran lived at 203 North Cleveland, this occurring last Halloween. Brooks suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and died after emergency surgery failed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

They did not take up the issue of whether his community corrections should be revoked. That will come later according to District Attorney Keith Schroeder. He says they will take up that issue the same time they have a pre-trial hearing in the murder case. He was on community corrections for a drug conviction from December of 2010. That should be set within the next 30-days.

Beltran remains jailed on a 150-thousand dollar bond.
