Hutch Community Foundation Hands Out Grants

The Youth Philanthropy Council of the Hutchinson Community Foundation awarded grants from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy and the Trevor Curiel Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy on Sunday.

The Council is comprised of twenty high school students from across the County. These youth have met to discuss local issues of concern to youth, learn about philanthropy and grant making, and award grants to youth-serving organizations.

The following grants were awarded Sunday afternoon at the Hutchinson Art Center.

Buhler Grade School After Hours Program – $250 – Band instrument tutoring.

Buhler High School – $600 – LEGO Robotics Enrichment Club for elementary students.

Central Christian School – $435 – Sharing Latin Percussion music with area preschoolers.

Holy Cross Catholic School – $350 – Student-created videos with musical accompaniment.

Hutchinson High School Student Council- $500 – students will assemble ‘comfort’ bags for displaced children.

Hutchinson School of Tae Kwon Do – $200 – Protective equipment.

Park Place Christian Church Youth Group – $500 – Youth service projects during Spring Break.

Prairie Independent Living Resource Center – $600 – ‘Living Well with a Disability’ program at Nickerson High School.

Prosperity Cares Club – $400 – Supplies for Eagle Wings Quilt Project.

Salvation Army of Hutchinson – $150 – Musical instrument for Beginning Band.

South Hutchinson Police Department – $200 – June 2013 Bike Skills Clinic.

Third Thursday – $750 – Youth-created art for July Third Thursday display and auction.
