City Plans Changes For Avenue A Street

Hutchinson Logo

The City of Hutchinson is planning what they’re calling an open house this Thursday over plans to revamp Avenue A.

It’s basically a meeting to discuss the “road diet” for the street. This is where they make what is now a four-lane street into a two lane street for traffic on each side, then a center turn lane. This would be similar to both Adams and Monroe, or 4th Street.

The plans for the street are being designed by city staff and construction is scheduled to begin this summer. City Staff will be on hand to explain the proposed improvements.

The meeting will be on March 21, at City Hall and property owners along the street are encouraged to attend.

City Officials believe making the change will make the street safer, adding the center turning lane, and also space for a bike lane as well.
