Update On Attempt To Locate Robert Helms

Robert Helms 2

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is still investigating received information that late yesterday afternoon, March 13, 2013, Robert Helms targeted a grocery store in Walsh, Colorado (SE Colorado, 18 miles from the Kansas border).

Helms portrayed himself as a deputy from a fictitious Adams County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office. He produced a fake law enforcement officer badge which said “Adams County/Deputy Sheriff” on it.

Based on his previous pattern, he may possibly try to pass some more bad checks in the southwest Kansas or southeast Colorado area in the next few days.

As we have told you in the past, Helms is suspected of passing himself off as a law enforcement officer, including using a false badge, throughout Kansas while cashing phony payroll checks and issuing bad checks to purchase items.

Information indicates Helms had been in western Kansas, including Scott city and Russell on February 1st, 2013. Helms has targeted Alco and similar stores in smaller communities including Pratt and Lyons also in early February.

Helms is 45-years-old, stands 5’7″, weighs 190-pounds with blue eyes. He has short gray hair, is known to wear round glasses and looks older than his age.

As always, the suspect is presumed innocent of all charges.
